ਜਿਚਰੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਦੰਮੁ ਹੈ. ਤਿਚਰੁ, ਨ ਚੇਤਈ; ਕਿ ਕਰੇਗੁ ਅਗੈ ਜਾਇ ॥

Sant Singh KhalsaAs long as there is breath in the body, he does not remember the Lord; what will he do in the world hereafter?
Manmohan SinghAs long as there is breath in the body, so long the man remembers not the Lord. What shall he do when he goes in the yond?
Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਜਦ ਤਾਈਂ ਦੇਹ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੁਆਸ ਹੈ, ਉਦੋਂ ਤਾਈਂ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ। ਜਦ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਊਗਾ, ਉਹ ਕੀ ਕਰੂਗਾ?
Fareedkot Teeka(ਜਿਚਰੁ) ਜਬ ਤਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ (ਦੰਮੁ) ਸ੍ਵਾਸ ਹੈ (ਤਿਚਰੁ) ਤਬ ਤਕ ਬੰਦਾ ਹਰੀ ਕਾ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਤਾ, ਸੋ ਆਗੇ, ਭਾਵ ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਮੇਂ ਜਾਇ ਕਰ (ਕਿ ਕਰੇਗੁ) ਕ੍ਯਾ ਕਰੇਗਾ॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਜਦ ਤਾਈਂ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਦਮ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ; (ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਜੀਵ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੋਚਦਾ ਕਿ) ਅਗਾਂਹ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਕੀਹ ਹਾਲ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗਿਆਨਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਗਿਆਨੀ = ਸਮਝਦਾਰ। ਅਗਿਆਨੀ = ਮੂਰਖ। ਅੰਧੁ = ਅੰਨ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੰਮ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਮਾਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੋ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਉਹੋ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਰੰਗਿ = ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ। ਵੇਸਾਹੁ = ਭਰੋਸਾ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਐਸੇ ਜੋਗੀ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ (ਰੂਪ) ਨਗਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਰੇਕ (ਗੁਣ) ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਭੇਖ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜੋਗੀ ਬਨਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮੇਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।

Fareedkot Teekaਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੁਝ ਕੋ ਹੋਰੁ ਕੋਈ ਦਾਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਤਾ ਦਾਤ ਕੇ ਦੇਣੇਹਾਰਾ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ॥੨੧॥੧॥ਸੁਧ॥ ਕਹੇ ਅਰਥ ਕੀ ਸਮਝ ਕਰੋ।☬ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਤਲਵੰਡੀ ਜਾਇ ਕਰ ਭਾਈ ਬਾਲੇ ਕੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਭਾਨ ਸੰਧੂ ਕੇ ਕੂਪ ਪਰ ਬੈਠੇ ਥੇ। ਯੇਹਿ ਸੁਧ ਸੁਨ ਮਾਤਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾ ਜੀ ਆਈ ਔਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਸੇ ਕਹਾ, 'ਹੇ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਘਰ ਚਲੋ ਔ ਇਸ ਭੇਖ ਕੋ ਛੋਡੋ'। ਤਬ ਮਾਤਾ ਜੀ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਥਾਇ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਂਤੋਂ ਸਹਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀਓਂ ਕੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰਤੇ ਹੂਏ ਮਾਤਾ ਕੋ ਉੱਤ੍ਰ ਔ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਕੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਤੇ ਹੈਂ:
