ਸਚੁ ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਾਹੀ; ਸੀਤਾ ਕਦੇ. ਨ ਪਾਟੈ ॥

sach puraanaa hovai naahee; seetaa kade. na paattai |

Sant Singh KhalsaBut the Truth does not grow old; and when it is stitched, it is never torn again.
Manmohan SinghTruth grows not old and once stitched up, is torn not ever.
Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਸੱਚ ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਵਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਸਿਊਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਦਾਚਿੱਤ ਪਾਟਦਾ।
Fareedkot Teekaਪਰੰਤੂ ਜੋ (ਸਚੁ) ਸਤ ਵਸਤੂ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਰੂਪ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ, ਸੋ ਨਾ ਕਬੀ ਪੁਰਾਨਾ ਹੋਤਾ ਹੈ ਔਰ ਵਹੁ ਐਸੀ ਅਭੇਦਤਾ ਰੂਪ ਜੁਗਤੀਓਂ ਸੇ ਏਕ ਰੂਪ ਕੀਆ ਹੂਆ ਕਬੀ ਫਟਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਭਾਵ ਭਿੰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਤਾ ਹੈ। ਯਦਿ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਂਤ ਵਿਤ੍ਰੇਕ ਅੰਸ ਪਰ ਹੈ ਔਰ ਸਰਬ ਅਨ੍ਹੈ ਪਰ ਹੈ॥
Prof. Sahib Singh(ਪਰ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (-ਰੂਪ ਪਟੋਲਾ) ਕਦੇ ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਸੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਦੇ ਪਾਟਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ (ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਟੁੱਟਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ)।

Fareedkot Teekaਸਿਧਾਂਤ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਹਿਤੇ ਹੈਂ: ਜਬ ਤਕ ਜੀਵੀਏ ਤਬ ਤਕ (ਸਚੋ) ਨਿਸਚੈ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਜਪਤੇ ਰਹੀਏ॥੧॥☬ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਸੇਖ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੇ ਪਾਸ ਗਏ ਤਬ ਸੇਖ ਜੀ ਮਹਿਮਾਨੀ ਕੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਬਕਰਾ ਲੈ ਆਏ ਅਰ ਹਲਾਲ ਖਾਣੇ ਦਾ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਕੀਆ। ਤਬ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਜੀਵ ਰੂਪ ਬਕਰੇ ਕੇ ਕੁਹਣੇ ਕੇ ਪਰਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਉਪਦੇਸ ਕਰਤੇ ਹੈਂ:
Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਖਸਮ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦੀ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਸਮਝ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰੀਏ ॥੧॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਤਿਚਰੁ ਜਾਪੀ ਜਾਪੇ . . ਤਿਚਰੁ ਜਾਪੀ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਜਾਪੈ = ਉਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਜਪੀਏ ॥੧॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਛੁਰੀ ਹੋਵੇ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ (ਉਸ ਛੁਰੀ ਦਾ) ਸਾਰਾ ਲੋਹਾ ਹੋਵੇ,

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਕਾਤੀ = (ਸੰ: कर्तरी) ਕੈਂਚੀ, ਚਾਕੂ, ਛੁਰੀ। ਸਾਰੁ = ਲੋਹਾ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਲਾਲ ਹੋ ਕੇ (ਕੁੱਠਾ ਜਾ ਕੇ) ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ,

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਹਕਿ = ਹੱਕ ਵਿਚ, ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਰੱਬ ਵਿਚ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਤੇ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ (ਅੱਪੜ ਕੇ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥

ਕਮਰਿ ਕਟਾਰਾ ਬੰਕੁੜਾ; ਬੰਕੇ ਕਾ ਅਸਵਾਰੁ ॥

kamar kattaaraa bankurraa; banke kaa asavaar |

Sant Singh KhalsaA beautiful dagger hangs by your waist, and you ride such a beautiful horse.
Manmohan SinghAt thy waist is a handsome dagger and thou art mounted on a beauteous horse.
Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਤੇਰੇ ਲੱਕ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਹਣਾ ਛੁਰਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਘੋੜੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਵਾਰ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
Fareedkot Teekaਏਕ ਕੋਈ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਜੁਆਨ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਘੋੜੇ ਪਰ ਅਸਵਾਰ ਹੂਆ ਕਮਰ ਮੇਂ ਕਟਾਰ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ ਬਾਂਧੇ ਹੂਏ ਜਾਤਾ ਥਾ। ਚਲੇ ਜਾਤੇ ਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਨੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਚਲਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਮਰਦਾਨੇ ਕੋ ਰਕਾਬ ਮਾਰੀ। ਮਰਦਾਨੇ ਨੇ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਕਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਪਾਸ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਕਰੀ, ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਸਲੋਕ ਉਚਾਰਾ। ਇਤਨੇਂ ਮੇਂ ਥੋੜੀ ਦੂਰ ਤਕ ਜਾਕਰ ਘੋੜਾ ਸਿਰ ਪਰਨੇ ਗਿਰ ਕਰ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ। ਕਾਠੀ ਸਿਰ ਪਰ ਉਠਾ ਕਰ ਚਲਤਾ ਭ੍ਯਾ, ਵਾਹਿਜ ਪਰਸਿਧ ਹੈ। ਦੂਸਰਾ ਅੰਤ੍ਰੀਵ ਕਥਨ ਕਰਤੇ ਹੈਂ: ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸਰੀਰ ਕਾ ਅਸਵਾਰ ਹੋ ਰਹਾ ਹੈ, ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਕਾ ਗ੍ਯਾਨ ਰੂਪ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਕਟਾਰਾ (ਕਮਰ) ਬੁਧੀ ਮੇਂ ਬਾਂਧਾ ਹੂਆ ਹੈ॥
Prof. Sahib Singhਲੱਕ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਕਟਾਰ ਹੋਵੇ ਤੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਰ ਹੋਵੇ,

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਕਮਰਿ = ਲੱਕ ਤੇ, ਲੱਕ ਦੁਆਲੇ। ਬੰਕੁੜਾ = ਬਾਂਕਾ ਜਿਹਾ, ਸੋਹਣਾ ਜਿਹਾ। ਕਟਾਰਾ = ਖ਼ੰਜਰ। ਬੰਕੇ ਕਾ = ਸੋਹਣੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਦਾ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਫਿਰ ਭੀ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮਾਣ ਨਾਹ ਕਰੀਏ, (ਕੀਹ ਪਤਾ ਹੈ) ਮਤਾਂ ਸਿਰ-ਭਾਰ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਏ ॥੩॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਸਚਿ ਕਮਾਣੈ = ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ-ਰੂਪ ਕਮਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਏ। ਕੂੜੈ = ਕੂੜ ਦੀ ਖੱਟੀ ਦਾ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜਿਤੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ = ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ {ਨੋਟ: ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ "ਸੇਵੀਐ" ਅਤੇ "ਸੇਵਿਐ" ਦੇ 'ਉੱਚਾਰਣ' ਅਤੇ 'ਅਰਥ' ਦਾ ਫ਼ਰਕ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖਣ-ਯੋਗ ਹੈ}।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਵੰਞਨਿ = ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਰਵਹਿ = ਆ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ। ਮਨਿ = ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ॥੨॥

* ਨੋਟ: ਇਸ ਸ਼ਲੋਕ ਦੇ ਸਿਰੇ ਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ "ਮਹਲੇ" ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਨਹੀਂ; ਇਥੇ ਭੀ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਸ਼ਲੋਕ ਦਾ "ਮਹਲਾ ੧" ਹੀ ਸਮਝਣਾ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਗੁਰੂ-ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਤਿਆਇਆ ਹੈ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ। ਪਤੀਆਈਅਨੁ = (ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ) ਪਤੀਆਈ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੇ।
