ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਬੇਦ ਪਾਠ ਮਤਿ = ਵੇਦਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਠ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਤਿ, ਵੇਦ ਆਦਿਕ ਧਰਮ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਢਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਮਤਿ। ਪਾਪਾ ਖਾਇ = ਪਾਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਾ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਬੇਦ ਪਾਠ = ਵੇਦਾਂ ਦੇ (ਨਿਰੇ) ਪਾਠ {ਨੋਟ: "ਬੇਦ ਪਾਠ ਮਤਿ" ਅਤੇ "ਬੇਦ ਪਾਠ" ਦੇ ਫ਼ਰਕ ਵਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਦੇਣਾ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ}।

Prof. Sahib Singhਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਲੋਕ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਅਰਥ ਹੀ ਵਿਚਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਪਰ), ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਭੀ ਕੀਹ?) (ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ) ਆਪਣੇ (ਹੁਣ ਤਕ ਦੇ) ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਏ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਬੰਦਾ ਇਸ ਬਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਗੇੜ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਉੱਦਮ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੨॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਕਿਰਤਿ = {ਇਹ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ "ਕਿਰਤੁ" ਤੋਂ "ਅਧਿਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਕ, ਇਕ-ਵਚਨ" ਹੈ; ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ "ਪਇਐ" ਭੀ "ਪਇਆ" ਤੋਂ "ਅਧਿਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਕ ਇਕ-ਵਚਨ" ਹੈ, ਦੋਵੇਂ ਰਲ ਕੇ ਉਹ "ਵਾਕ-ਅੰਸ਼" (Phrase) ਬਣਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਗ੍ਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਚ Locative Absolute ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ। ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ "ਕਿਰਤ" ਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ "ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਕੰਮ"; "ਪਇਆ" ਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ "ਇਕੱਠਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ"}। ਪਇਐ ਕਿਰਤਿ = ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋਏ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ॥੨॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਏਨੀ ਫੁਲੀ = (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ-ਰੂਪ) ਇਹਨਾਂ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਵਲ। ਰਉ = ਰੌ, ਧਿਆਨ, ਲਗਨ। ਅਵਰ ਡਾਲ = ਹੋਰ ਡਾਲੀਆਂ। ਕਿ = ਕੀਹ? ॥੧॥
