ਜਿਤੁ ਲਾਈਅਨਿ. ਤਿਤੈ ਲਗਦੀਆ; ਨਹ ਖਿੰਜੋਤਾੜਾ ॥

jit laaeean. titai lagadeea; neh khinjotaarraa |

Sant Singh KhalsaWherever I join them, there they are joined; they do not struggle against me.
Manmohan SinghWhithersoever I yoke them, thither they are yoked and they struggle not with me.
Manmohan Singh (Punjabi)ਜਿੱਥੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਜੁੜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਬਖੇੜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ।

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੁਣ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਸ ਪਾਸੇ ਲਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਧਰ ਹੀ ਲੱਗਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਕੋਈ ਖਿੱਚੋਤਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ (ਕਰਦੀਆਂ)।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਜਿਤੁ = ਜਿਸ ਪਾਸੇ। ਲਾਈਅਨਿ = ਲਾਈ ਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਖਿੰਜੋਤਾੜਾ = ਖਿੱਚੋਤਾਣ।

ਜੋ ਇਛੀ ਸੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ; ਗੁਰਿ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵਾੜਾ ॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ) ਅੰਦਰ ਵਲ ਪਰਤਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਇੱਛਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਉਹੀ ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਇਛੀ = ਮੈਂ ਇੱਛਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਗੁਰਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ। ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵਾੜਾ = ਅੰਦਰਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ (ਮਨ ਨੂੰ) ਪਰਤਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਮੂੰ = ਮੈਨੂੰ। ਚਿਤਿ = ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ। ਮੂੰ ਚਿਤਿ = ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ। ਲਹਾਉ = ਮੈਂ ਲੈ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਰਵੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਨਿਰੇ) ਖਾਣ-ਹੰਢਾਣ (ਦੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ) ਵਿਕਾਰ (ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਅਸਲ ਵਿਚ) ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਸਮਾਨ ਹਨ (ਉੱਕੇ ਹੀ ਨਿਕੰਮੇ ਹਨ)।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਕਪੜ ਭੋਗ = (ਨਿਰੇ) ਭੋਗ ਕੱਪੜ, ਨਿਰੇ ਖਾਣ-ਹੰਢਾਣ। ਛਾਰ = ਸੁਆਹ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਲੜੇਦਾ = ਮੈਂ ਲੋੜਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ {ਨੋਟ: ਅੱਖਰ 'ਲ' ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਦੋ ਲਗਾਂ ਹਨ, (ੋ) ਅਤੇ (ੁ) ਅਸਲ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਲੋੜੇਦਾ' ਹੈ, ਇਥੇ 'ਲੁੜੇਦਾ' ਪੜ੍ਹਨਾ ਹੈ}। ਤੰਨਿ ਖੇ = ਤਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ। ਖਾਕੁ = ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ॥੨॥

Prof. Sahib Singhਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਆਸਰੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਤੱਕਦੀ ਹੈਂ? ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਾ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਬਿਆ = ਦੂਜੇ। ਪਾਸ = ਪਾਸੇ, ਆਸਰੇ। ਹੀਅੜੇ = ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਹਿਕੁ = ਇਕ। ਅਧਾਰੁ = ਆਸਰਾ।

Prof. Sahib Singh(ਤੇ, ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ॥੩॥

Sant Singh KhalsaWithout good karma, the Dear Lord is not found; without the True Guru, the mind is not joined to Him.

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਧੀਰਾ = ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ। ਕਲਿ = (ਭਾਵ,) ਸੰਸਾਰ। ਨ ਤਗੈ = (ਟਿਕਾਉ ਵਿਚ) ਨਹੀਂ ਨਿਭ ਸਕਦਾ।

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ ਕਲਾ = (digit) ਹਿੱਸਾ, ਟੋਟਾ (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਲਾ ਵਧਦੀਆਂ ਘਟਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ)। ਅਕਲ = ਜਿਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਲਾਂ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਣ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਟੋਟੇ ਨਾਹ ਹੋ ਸਕਣ, ਜੋ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਵਾਂਗ ਘਟਦਾ ਵਧਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਅਖੰਡ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਵਾਲਾ। ਲਖ = (लक्ष) ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ, ਚਿਹਨ। ਅਲੇਖ = ਜੋ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਾਹ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ।
